I’ve got lots of ideas bubbling up to the surface and I want to make more big work, but the usual constraints of time, opportunity and space mean that right now it’s easier to go back to some smaller projects while the big ideas are percolating.
The incised foil elements of the eye votives seem to work well with faces and while I’m thinking about making some large scale goddess cut outs (I’m wildly imagining a paper Mount Olympus!), these are my doodles using old print out-takes and my bursting-at-the-seams drawer full of coloured paper scraps. They’re also a reverse version of the Greek saint icons in churches where every element is portrayed in silver relief except for the face.

The framed one is currently appearing in a small group show called “Rituals” at Fronteer Gallery, Sheffield.
