hello there!
I’m Mel, an artist and occasional writer based in Sheffield.
I mostly work with paper and my practice encompasses collage, drawing, zines and large scale paper cuts. I hate seeing things go to waste and have always liked “drawing with scissors” using recycled and pre-loved materials including paper that was originally intended for other things, from paper bags and adverting flyers to wallpaper samples and sweetie wrappings.
Paper is quite a fragile medium and I like to see what happens when it’s used on a much bigger scale to make installations, often using light and projection to add another dimension.
